About Saint Naum monastery

Saint Naum monastery Ohrid ... Saint Naum monastery is surroundings. It's located only 2 kilometers near the border with Albania, on rocks and 28 km from Ohrid.

The Byzantine church of the monastery is dedicated to the Holy Archangels Gabriel and Michael (there St. Naum was buried). The monastery has been renovated and enlarged during the 16^th and 17^th centuries. The wood-carved iconostasis and the icons date 18 century. In particular the icons are considered among the best in the Balkans.
Go inside and put your ear on his tomb, you can hear the sound of the water of lake Ohrid, beside you are 30 meters higher than the lake level.
Today there is hotel complex Saint Naum on the location. A curiosity: the Saint Naum monastery hosts a flock of peacocks.
